Bug: Comments disabled on self-hosted sites

Description

I have a self-hosted WP site and use the official client to post. All posts from the iOS client have comments disabled despite (as shown) enabling them in the post settings.

Note that my wp.com site works fine in the same app. It only occurs self-hosted.

Step-by-step reproduction instructions

1. Create a self-hosted site (I used Raspian)
2. Set it up in the ios app
3. Create a post, selecting discussion enabled
4. Post
5. Use the WP Admin link and QuickEdit to verify that comments are not enabled.

WordPress 6.9.4 running Twenty Sixteen theme. Latest iOS client.

Hi @phubbard – is it possible that your self-hosted site defaults to comments being disabled? (see Settings > Discussion > “Allow people to submit comments on new posts”)

I suspect that might be related to this issue –if you can check, that will help us get this sorted out for you!
