secure (ssl) connection to supabase or any postgres local or remote

Not sure if I am missing something, but I am unable to connect to supabase by forcing a secure SSL based connection. If I uncheck force secure connection setting (not using SSL) in supabase payload is able to connect. I tried providing ssl option in the postgresAdapter using various attributes essentially providing the path to the cert file, but none of them worked. How are ppl connecting to postgres db securely?
