🚀 Features:

• Generators: add ability to create resources in the management cluster in response to events. The naming convention for these generated ConfigMaps and Secrets is defined by the InstantiatedResourceNameFormat setting. This approach guarantees a predictable name for each generated resource.

🐛 Bug Fixes

• Use clusterAPI utility to fetch Kubeconfig for a CAPI clusters. Previously Sveltos assumed the Secret had only one key/value pair containing the kubeconfig. Fix

Warning

This release introduces a non backward compatible change with respect to how event-manager handles referenced resources (specifically EventTrigger.Spec.PolicyRefs) with the annotation projectsveltos.io/template.

Previous Behavior:

• Resources marked with projectsveltos.io/template were treated as templates. The event-manager would automatically instantiate these templates using event data during runtime.

New Behavior:

• A new annotation, projectsveltos.io/instantiate, is introduced to distinguish between policies that require event-manager instantiation and those handled by the addon-controller during ClusterProfile deployment.

Guidelines for Resource Annotation:

• If a resource referenced by EventTrigger.Spec.PolicyRefs needs instantiation using event data by the event-manager, add the annotation projectsveltos.io/instantiate.
• If a resource referenced by EventTrigger.Spec.PolicyRefs should be instantiated by the addon-controller during ClusterProfile deployment, keep the annotation projectsveltos.io/template.

Upgrade Considerations:

Before upgrading, you need to update any resources previously annotated with projectsveltos.io/template that require event-manager instantiation. These resources should now have the annotation projectsveltos.io/instantiate added.
