• OS: Fedora "43.20260310.0 (Sway Atomic)"
• Browser firefox 148.0 (64-bit)
• Version whatever openfront.io is using

Additional context
AMD Ryzen 7 7730U with Radeon Graphics / 32 GB ram

I can barely play compact maps, big maps I cant play, too laggy. compact map + 60 or more players - unplayable

Sadly the main developers of Openfront basically ignore any non-chromium browser. I already submitted fixes for both of these extreme issues (still stuck at 40 fps but at least playable), but the members are very slow to implement.

One of these issues is confirmed to be fixed in v31. The other one is related to factories, so once v31 releases, if you still have issues, disable factories and you should be able to play any map again.

I feel like this is something that should be hotfixed immediately but I guess just use Microsoft edge for now.

Also, if you are zoomed all the way out this can resolve the heavy issues on most maps, just hope you have very accurate clicks and hover over nations to see their troop count.

• Also make sure the GPU you mention is actually used for the browser, so it doesn't fallback to software rendering or a less performant iGPU.

• It may also help to force X11 and not use Wayland but from what i'm reading Fedora has removed X11 so not sure if that would be possible for you.

Yes, please try these and mention any specifics (like how you mentioned it only happens on big maps).

Also, Vince it seems they are already using an iGPU, but that should still have more than enough performance than the "unplayable" mentioned here. Most people likely won't notice many performance issues in this game until under 20 FPS (unless you're zooming/scrolling around the map most things are static).

ok, i did run a few games with performance panel on. for compact maps its mostly fine unless theres a lot of players. for big maps when the game starts its basically 1-2 fps for me and sometimes it just freezes completely and then plays back like 2-3 seconds of game, but sometimes big maps play relatively fine, I'm not sure whats going on, but when I read the above it feels like whenever theres like 100+ (maybe not 100, but i played one big map with 60 players and it went fine) players its unplayable, doesnt matter the map size.

my firefox settings

firefox comes from rpm-ostree. on my openfront.io settings tab everything is off except dark mode and cursor price (so no sprites|effects). also it doesnt matter how much i zoom out i still see trains.

In that case issue is likely the trains always showing up, on large maps the trains currently cause a HUGE performance hit (the single digits you are describing) the moment a factory is built, I already made a fix for this in #3584 and waiting for a member to approve it.

As for large maps, that is fixed whenever evan decides as #3574 is already merged and fixes that issue.

this is somewhat inconsistent, because small\large maps are fine as long as they dont have hundrers of players, but thats for those fixes anyway, let me wait for the to be released and revert if necessary!

just one more thing I noticed i start getting lags even on the choose your location phase of the game, so it cant be related to trains\factories

That's likely #3569 , check to see if it's fixed on Openfront.dev (it should be hopefully)
