Failure to continue after partition selection

Hardware: Dell Inspiron 15 3501
Installation method: USB 3.2 drive
Issue: Installer works properly up until the partition selection. Whenever selecting a properly formatted partition and clicking next, the error "We couldn't create a new partition or locate an existing one" appears at the bottom of the window. Cannot continue past this point.
Notes: All partitions are functional
Being installed to an NVMe SSD
Other installations (such as Windows 10 or other Linux distributions) work properly.

You probably forgot to set the partition you want to install Windows on as active.
