Description of the bug
After installing Background Music, the volume slider for my Aggregate Device became permanently disabled (greyed out and not adjustable). I can no longer control the volume of the aggregate output.
Uninstalling Background Music using the provided uninstall.sh script did not fix the issue. The script reported successful removal, but the Aggregate Device volume control remains broken.
Steps to reproduce
- Install Background Music (v0.4.3)
- Use an Aggregate Device as output (in my case: MacBook Pro Speakers + External Headphones)
- Observe that the system volume slider for the Aggregate Device becomes disabled
- Uninstall Background Music using uninstall.sh
- Volume control for the Aggregate Device is still not restored
Versions
- Background Music: 0.4.3
- macOS: Tahoe 26.3.1
Hardware
- Computer: MacBook Pro (M3 Pro)
- Audio Device: Aggregate Device (MacBook Pro Speakers + External Headphones)

Other info
I have tried the following without success:
- Rebooting macOS
- Deleting and recreating the Aggregate Device
- Running
sudo killall coreaudiod
- Deleting:
- com.apple.audio.DeviceSettings.plist
- com.apple.audio.SystemSettings.plist
- com.apple.audio.AudioMIDISetup.plist
The issue started immediately after installing Background Music.
Normal (non-aggregate) output devices still have working volume control.
Screenshots of sound settings and of Aggregate Device configuration attached.
