GET SWITCH_POSITION - NOT WORKING

Q STRING "echo $SWITCH_POSITION you won't be able to see the printed output unless your script opens a terminal to print on. I'm assuming you're trying to write the output to a file. In this case, you generally would have to specify where you would like the file saved, something like:

if no location is specified ("echo $SWITCH_POSITION > switch_pos.txt") then the text file will be created in "/" directory which is the top-level root directory. To access it, login to your bash bunnys' command line and type "cd /" then you'll find it there. You'll know you're in the root directory if you do "cd .." and you remain in the same dir.

I know this is old, but no whitespace is allowed between the variable name, the equals sign, and the value in bash.

The issue is how GET SWITCH_POSITION is used in the payload script. It's a Bash Bunny framework function, not a shell variable assignment.

Correct usage:

# Source the bunny framework (this is usually automatic but just in case)
source /usr/local/bunny/bin/bunny_framework

# GET sets the variable — don't use = assignment
GET SWITCH_POSITION

# Now $SWITCH_POSITION is available
echo "Switch is at: $SWITCH_POSITION"

Common mistakes:

1. Don't use = assignment:

   # WRONG:
   TEST = $SWITCH_POSITION
   
   # RIGHT:
   GET SWITCH_POSITION
   echo "$SWITCH_POSITION"

2. Spaces around = in bash:
   TEST = $SWITCH_POSITION is actually trying to run a command called TEST with arguments = and $SWITCH_POSITION. In bash, variable assignment has NO spaces:

   TEST=$SWITCH_POSITION  # Correct bash syntax

3. Q STRING outputs to HID, not terminal:

   Q STRING "echo \$SWITCH_POSITION"

   This types the literal text on the TARGET machine, not the Bunny. To debug on the Bunny itself, write to a log file:

   GET SWITCH_POSITION
   echo "$SWITCH_POSITION" > /root/udisk/loot/debug.txt

To verify it works, create this test payload:
