Intermittent failure to sync on Firefox MacOS

Describe the Bug

Firefox fails to autosync intermittently (primary issue)
Error message "An unexpected error occurred | Last synchronized: 16 hours ago"

Unable to view log files (secondary issue)

The issue is resolved by pressing Sync Now, which syncs bookmarks as expected

The issue only occurs in Firefox, even when no changes have been made to any bookmarks

Expected Behavior

Autosync should occur

Log files should have content when downloaded

To Reproduce

On loading browser (sometimes) or returning to the browser (sometimes) the Floccus icon displays with an X indicating a sync error

When selecting Debug Logs, an empty log file is downloaded to my desktop

You have made the right choice to come here and open an issue to make sure your problem gets looked at and if possible solved. Let me give you a short introduction on what to expect from this issue tracker to avoid misunderstandings. I'm Marcel. I created floccus a few years ago, and have been maintaining it since. I currently work for Nextcloud which leaves me with less time for side projects like this one than I used to have. I still try to answer all issues and if possible fix all bugs here, but it sometimes takes a while until I get to it. Until then, please be patient. It helps when you stick around to answer follow up questions I may have, as very few bugs can be fixed directly from the first bug report, without any interaction. If information is missing in your bug report and the issue cannot be solved without it, I will have to close the issue after a while. Note also that GitHub in general is a place where people meet to make software better together. Nobody here is under any obligation to help you, solve your problems or deliver on any expectations or demands you may have, but if enough people come together we can collaborate to make this software better. For everyone. Thus, if you can, you could also have a look at other issues to see whether you can help other people with your knowledge and experience. Hi Marcel, my issue seems to be resolved - I haven't noticed any failed syncs for a while in Firefox, and I can download logs. I see that the version is now 5.9.1 - don't know if you addressed my concerns specifically, but thanks. Have also set up regular annual donation. Cheers!

Oh no... the issue is still occurring. Please find the log generated after failure, and the redacted log after a manual refresh

Sorry for the delay, I addressed the empty log file issue in v5.9.1 as others have also reported this, but I have not looked into the intermittent sync failure, yet. Thank you nonetheless for the recurring donation 💙

It seems that it's failing at the storage retrieval step. Could you try uninstalling the extension and reinstalling? You can also export your profile(s) beforehand and import them after to make it easier.
