ISBNs, and an absolute beginner

I'm curious if anybody has tried creating a scraper for ISBNs. I'm in love with Koillection, and it admittedly is a little over my head so I am committed to learning. My goal is to scan the barcodes of books from my 1000+ book library and have the data pulled from OpenLIbrary or a similar open service.

I'm also curious if this is the best place for community questions. I know that some of these projects have their own Discord or subreddit or something.
