I often have this sound problem with live streams. For videos, I only had the problem with https://youtu.be/tSmukVzTMJA and https://youtu.be/nEV0s9S1jzc videos. I've played both videos several times, and sometimes there is sound.

Can you post the full log from when this occurred?

The log snippet indicates that Kodi could not connect to the addon http server. When this occurs the entire playback would fail, not just the sound.

If you try to play the video again then the addon will probably try to use a HLS playlist directly from YouTube rather than the custom MPEG-DASH manifest served from the addon http server (because it has failed for some reason). The HLS streams are known to be problematic. They are also used for live streams.

Need to understand what led to the http server failing, and then what happened when the playback was started without using it. Neither of these are in the log snipped provided, but are likely in the full log from the same session.

Both videos of my bug now have sound, and I haven't found any other videos that don't have sound.

Here are the logs (with Show higher levels) for a live stream without sound: live.log. There are no errors in the logs.

Yes, but they are missing some important entries that would indicate that the audio player is actually doing anything.

The log has this:

But after that there is no indication that the audio stream is actually created. Very strange.

In System > Logging, I enabled all logs. And in Specify component-specific logging, I enabled FFmpeg, Audio, Video, audio/video timing information, PVR, Add-ons and Webserver.

For comparison, I tested all of Lofi Girl's live streams and it works: I have the sound for all of them. Here are the logs for one of the live streams: lofigirl.log

I wasn't trying to imply that the log was insufficient, but rather that the log entries that should be there, but aren't, is indicative of something quite fundamental not working properly.

I tried an old Kodi 20 installation and it worked fine using both InputStream.Adaptive and ffmpeg.

Kodi 22 fails to load the hls playlist at all using ffmpeg, and fails to load the audio stream using InputStream.Adaptive if the HE-AAC audio stream is selected as default, but will work if the AAC-LC audio stream is selected as default or if the audio streams are manually switched.

The ffmpeg issue looks to be a config issue with how it is compiled. Will need to look into what may cause Kodi to not load the audio stream when using InputStream.Adaptive.

In the meantime can temporarily workaround the problem by manually switching audio streams using the Kodi OSD audio options.

Yes it appears to be an external issue with both Kodi and InputStream.Adaptive.

Nothing that can be really fixed in the addon, but this issue will remain open as a reminder for me to investigate further and look into the Kodi and InputStream.Adaptive codebase to try and figure out what has changed.

No further input required at this time, except if anyone else has decided to investigate for themselves.

Noticed this too occasionally. But a new retry to play the same video, audio is working. Hardly to reproduce

I also experiencing the issue, I was able to mitigate it by going to the audio settings and toggling passthrough on/off (doesent matter if on or off) - it seems to force the sound system to reinitialize (all this while the video is playing)

I managed to substantially alleviate the issue (from almost every video not playing sound to this happening only occasionally) by:

1. turning on "Allow Passthrough" in system settings.
2. turning on the module: module-allow-passthrough

You don't have the same problem as the OP.

You just need to update the addon to the latest beta version available:

Having the random no sound issue also. Discovered if the vid starts without sound if I fast forward the video a bit the sound comes in.
I then reverse to the start of the video and it plays normal. Wish I could figure out why some of my folders and playlist do not show up but at least I can play vids with the latest released plugin.
