merge: integrate upstream README changes for v1.0.0 public release

Resolve conflicts: keep all docs (CLAUDE.md, ROADMAP.md, etc.) with *.md whitelist in .gitignore for public visibility. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.6 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>
