Feature Request: Modem ONT Monitering

I'm not sure if this is possible, but I know how we can have like cable modems monitoring, is it possible to have fiber ONT Modem Monitoring?

Depends on the ONT. Some popular ones definitely have an easy-to-parse management interface, some you can't get to at all. I'll see what I can come up with and do CM monitoring at the same time too.

I've checked on my bridged Calix gateway (and ONTs) and none of which have live management pages that are accessible from the LAN side. The gateway does, when it's in gateway mode, but it does not in bridge mode.

I know the AT&T and other RGs have decent admin stats pages I could scrape. Which one are you running?

If you guys can send me HAR trace files of you signing in to your ONTs and viewing the light levels and PON info, credentials redacted of course, I can make this happen.

I wanted to do it for Calix ONTs but turns out there's no customer side management interface when they are connected to WAN, same for Calix RGs in bridge mode.

I can do that but for my ONT I have to put custom routing rules in place to access the management interface on it. I then actually grab this information using a shell script to ingest it into my logging system.

Yeah that's pretty typical. I can definitely look at either providing guidance as to how to add those in Optimizer or even create a simple cron and script that deploys to the gateway to add any WAN interface IP needed and/or IP route entries so they'll persist.

@bmorgenthaler nice thanks! I'll get on this soon and probably will support Netgear CM, ONT sticks with the standard interface, and AT&T BWG320 to start. Will take me a bit because I'll likely pull back in InfluxDB for time series data again.
