Per-file Editing and Metadata Fetching When Multiple Files Are Open

I’d like to share a short usability suggestion regarding multi-file editing.

Currently, when multiple files are opened at the same time: Metadata can only be written uniformly to all files. Online metadata fetching is also applied globally, not per file. But sometimes files in a album may have different performer.
It would be great if, in multi-file sessions, it were possible to:

• Edit metadata per file (e.g. selecting one file and editing its fields),
• Fetch online metadata individually for each file,
• While still keeping the current “apply to all files” behavior as a batch option.
  I understand this may involve UI or architectural changes, and I’m sharing this purely as a workflow-oriented suggestion.

Thank you for the detailed feedback! I've just released a new version that implements this feature. The application now includes two editing modes via a dropdown selector:

Batch Mode (existing behavior):

• Fields start empty
• Fill in the metadata you want to apply
• "Write Tags" applies these values to all files
• "Remove Tags" clears metadata from all files

Per-File Mode (new):

• Existing metadata is loaded from each file
• Select any file in the list to view and edit its tags
• Modify existing fields or add new ones
• "Write Tags" saves changes to all files you've modified - only edited files are written, not the entire list
• Auto-Tag applies only to the selected file
• Right-click the file list for "Copy Metadata" / "Paste Metadata" to transfer tags between files

This addresses your use case where album tracks have different performers or other varying metadata. The copy/paste option should help when files share some common fields.
