Bump only on publish or pack

Is there really a need to bump the version each build? I think it would be better if it was bumped during publishing or packing only just for the NuGet. I think that would be more reasonable if the sole purpose of this library is to help with NuGet dependency management.

You're probably right, however this would be a breaking change. The original purpose of this tool was to aid development when I'm working on multiple solutions at the same time that have references between them, and changes are frequent.

Now it bumps even if you just refactor some code or fix a typo which is not a good thing. It would be nice if you could choose when to bump what.

Just checked and neither using BeforePublish or BeforeTargets="Package" helps to fix this issue.

BeforeTargets="Pack" works pretty well and I think it solves the issue for me.

Thorusus, I don't see how to use BeforeTargets="pack" to bump version only when packing/publishing. Msbump config is using a build configuration not a target configuration, can you explain how you managed to bump only on packaging ?

You must build your own version of MSBump

Change BeforeTargets="BeforeBuild" to BeforeTargets="Pack"

I don't use MSBump anymore though.
