Description

Goal

Establish a light but effective data governance framework to ensure accuracy, consistency, and trust in Salesforce NPC during and after migration. This will provide clear field-level security, data standards, and processes so stakeholders can confidently use NPC for reporting, decision-making, and integration eventually with Data Cloud.

Deliverables

  • Identification of data owners for key objects (Accounts/Person Accounts, Opportunities, Programs, Donations).
  • Defined data quality standards, including naming conventions, picklists, address formatting, and duplicate handling.
  • Documented permissions and access rules for sensitive fields and record types.
  • A data governance guide for staff and stakeholders outlining responsibilities, entry standards, and escalation procedures.
  • Training sessions for stakeholders and program staff to align on Person Accounts vs. Household model and data entry best practices.
  • Initial monitoring/auditing reports (e.g., missing emails, duplicate Person Accounts, incomplete Opportunities).

Key Dependencies

  1. Collaboration with program staff, development, and others to assign data ownership.
  2. Agreement from leadership/stakeholders on governance standards.
  3. NPC schema and hybrid environment testing to finalize data quality checks.
  4. Coordination with Data Cloud team to align governance with downstream integrations.

Notes

The focus is on shared rules, accountability, and data quality visibility so that all stakeholders understand expectations. Long-term, there will be more tickets regarding this topic. This framework can expand to include compliance and advanced monitoring as NPC/Data Cloud usage grows.
